Laura Holdsworth, PhD
Dr. Holdsworth is the director of the Evaluation Sciences Unit in the division of Primary Care and Population Health. She is a health services researcher and implementation scientist, and is experienced in qualitative and mixed methods research and evaluation. She uses a range of qualitative methods in her work, including interviews, focus groups, ethnography, participant observation, document review, survey, and literature reviews. Her research interests are in understanding the patient experience of health services to improve the implementation and delivery of services.
Samantha Kling, PhD, RD
Dr. Kling is a quantitative research scientist in the Evaluation Sciences Unit and has seven years of experience in mixed methods research and evaluation in clinical and community healthcare settings. She is dedicated to helping collaborators design and execute pragmatic evaluations that meet their needs and facilitate rapid learnings to ultimately improve healthcare at Stanford Medicine and beyond. Sam earned her PhD from The Pennsylvania State University in nutritional sciences with a minor in methodology and statistics in human development and family studies. She was also a fellow in the USDA’s Childhood Obesity Prevention Transdisciplinary training program. For her postdoctoral work, she studied the integration of patient-reported outcomes in the pediatric setting as well as coordination between clinical and community partners at Geisinger’s Obesity Institute. She is also a registered dietitian (RD)
